About Steve
Steve was born and raised in Chatham and attended local schools here. He graduated from Seneca College's Law Enforcement program, and he later attended the University of Windsor, playing for the Windsor Lancer's Football Team.
After spending his career working across Southwestern Ontario, Steve and his wife Rosemary made the decision to return home to Ward 7 and put down roots where it all began.
Steve began his career as a Security and By-Law Officer before moving into a role as a Pay Equity and Job Evaluation Specialist. For more than 30 years, he has worked with municipalities, hospitals, long-term care homes, and public health units—helping resolve disputes, negotiate fair agreements, and find practical solutions to complex challenges. He’s built a reputation as someone who listens, brings people together, and gets things done.
Steve and Rosemary have been married for 33 years, and their two children, Matt and Melissa, are now building their own careers across Southwestern Ontario.
In the community, Steve has been actively involved in local sports as a coach, manager, and leader. He has held executive and presidential roles with the Elgin Middlesex Canucks and continues to stay involved as General Manager of the Chatham Senior Diamonds Baseball Club. He is also a member of the Chatham Dreamfield Project, helping plans for a new community baseball diamond move forward.
Steve believes that strong communities are built through hard work, collaboration and being accountable— and he’s committed to continuing that work for the residents of Ward 7 and Chatham-Kent.
