Meet Steve
I am seeking election as Ward 7 Councillor in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent in the upcoming election on October 26th.
Born and raised in Chatham, this community shaped who I am—my values, my work ethic, and my commitment to giving back. After working in several communities across Southern Ontario, my wife, Rosemary, and I chose to return home to Ward 7 in retirement. We are deeply invested in the future of this community.
I bring over 30 years of experience as a negotiator and Pay Equity and Job Evaluation Specialist, where I built a reputation for fairness, problem-solving, and bringing people together. Locally, I’ve served as a coach, youth leader, board member, and President of sports organizations—helping create opportunities that strengthen our community.
I was honoured to be part of a team inducted into the Chatham Sports Hall of Fame and have volunteered with the Selection Committee for over 10 years. I also serve on the Dream Field Baseball Committee and as General Manager of the Chatham Senior Diamonds Baseball Club.
These experiences have shaped a simple belief: strong communities are built through hard work, collaboration and being accountable—and I’m committed to continuing that work for the residents of Ward 7 and Chatham-Kent.
As your Councillor, I will be a reliable and consistent voice for residents—focused on results and putting our community first.
My Vision & Priorities
Chatham-Kent has tremendous potential. With the right leadership, we can strengthen our economy, support our residents, and build a community we are all proud to call home.
I am committed to working hard for you and respectfully ask for your support.
Sincerely,
Steve Kenney
